The only way to improve any results is to have your team get certified with professional mindset which can lead them to accept and adapt to the change management.
The way you drive a standalone project is different from when you run it under PPM or PMO (just the same difference between driving a bike and a car), where there is a lot of processes and internal coordination needed to balance between your project and others. For this we have a special training that goes through the project management basics and how they are linked to PPM.
The greatest Forecast is when you know how to put together the data that can make you see how the future is going to look like (with KPI’s close to 100%), so you can make the big decisions from hiring, firing, increasing assets, offices, expanding, etc…
Forecast examples: Pipeline (sales forecast), Resource Forecast, Cost plan Forecast (which includes Revenue, cash flow, unbilled revenue, Churn control, etc…).
Running any portfolio without identified processes will always lead to miscommunication and unsatisfactory in the day-to-day operation to any type of business, which always lead to employees or customer decreased satisfaction, so either you will lose the employee or customer will not come back to you again!

Once the proposed portfolio has been refined and agreed upon, and the individual projects have been adequately validated, the final step is to put the portfolio into execution. Initiate the projects, and begin to measure performance, monitor each project's progress, and manage them ongoing to ensure that they are meeting the established objectives.
PMO and project managers need to work continuously closely together in this step and align with the portfolio manager to gather relevant performance data, allocate and reallocate resources, and schedule and initiate reviews. These stakeholders must also be ready and capable of making changes to the portfolio and its constituent projects where necessary. This final step is ongoing and will last through the entire life of the portfolio and results with manage, monitor, and control the portfolio.
